Open Day at the University of Johannesburg.

On the 15th of October 2015 we took a trip to the capital city of the Gauteng province to visit the University of Johannesburg on its Open Day.

In the early hours of the morning the grade 9, 10 and 11 learners arrived at the Rusplaas Christian Model School gates greeted by a slight drizzle of rain. Our Life Orientation educator, Mr Roy Varghese, was ready and waiting to collect our indemnity forms before boarding the buses provided by Limpopo Coaches. Just as the rain grew heavier, our excitement skyrocketed. As we boarded the buses at 05:30 all learners wore happy faces, and even more excitement filled the air. After a short prayer for our safe trip, engines started and we were off.

The journey took about five hours. We arrived safely at the Auckland Park Kingsway campus of the University of Johannesburg. We disembarked and had a snack before making our way to the Open Day festivities. After being summoned by our teachers, we made our way to the campus gates and lined up for entry. The campus' Open Day assitants led us through the gates, over a footbridge and into the Madibeng building. With the help of our guides, we made our way through what some of us hoped would be our future varsity campus. As we reached the hall where festivities were being held, we lined up once again to be given a small token of appreciation for our attendance. Each orange plastic bag contained the prospectus for 2016, a pen, a bottle of water and a neon orange lanyard for holding cards or keys.
