School Tour to the Sun City Resort, North West Province.

An educator's account of the trip experience.

Chisadza J E

The school tour organised a trip for Grades 7 to 9 learners. One hundred and twenty learners managed to pay for the trip. Two coaches were hired and six teachers accompanied the learners. Therefore the teacher-pupil ratio was 1:20.

We left school on 20 March 2015 at 04H20 and arrived at Sun City just before 09H30. At Sun City, learners really enjoyed themselves. Learners enjoyed swimming and playing at the beach. That's where most of the time was spent. Learners also enjoyed going to the Devil's temple where they slid from the pinnacle down to the pool.

The learners went to play different games and were really fascinated. The time slot of a day was not enough for the learners. This was evidenced when educators called everyone around 16H30 to assemble and board our buses back to school. Learners were still crying for more.
WHAT A FASCINATING AND EDUCATIVE TRIP IT WAS!

A grade 9 learner's perspective.

The two buses left for Sun City at 4:30 am and got to the destination by 9:30 am, with a single stopover at Petro-port (Engen service station.)

Once we got there, we got off the bus and were led to the Valley of Waves by our teachers Mr Mhere, Ms Manaka, Mr Chisadza and Mr Gumbo Z. We were guided by a tour guide. Our bags were searched for food, which is not allowed to the resort. CHILD visitor wrist bands were wrapped around our wrists by the guides. We then went to the change rooms and wore our swimwear, and then left our bags with a teacher. We did all sorts of things like swimming in the wave pool, going down the lazy river in a tube, and sliding down the slides.

At 13:00 we went to Steers for lunch. We got a treat of a burger, chips and a drink. Then after had a frozen yoghurt at Smooch frozen yoghurt bar.

We later went back to the activities. After an hour or so, we were ordered to wear our school uniforms and then headed to the Casino. We had fun playing the games. The game machines offered us tickets of which we exchanged for gifts.

At around 16:30 we boarded our buses and headed back home after a day of fun. We didn't want to go back but had to. Even though we had been to Sun City countless times before, it still felt like the first time.
